30th –Row the Mountains Kickoff Party - 5pm and VSM Annual Meeting
Concept2 and the Vermont Ski Museum challenge you to row the Green Mountains!
Kick-off party at the VSM Annual Meeting, May 30th, 5pm
Stowe, VT – The Vermont Ski Museum announces a new partnership with the Morrisville-based company Concept2. Concept2 manufactures indoor rowers and works to promote and encourage the growth of indoor and outdoor rowing. Because Concept2 also supports its community, it donated an indoor rower to the Vermont Ski Museum. Together, the Museum and Concept2 have designed some unique rowing challenges that highlight the similarities between rowing and skiing.
The Museum and Concept2 challenge you to help the Museum reach its goal of rowing to all the ski areas in Vermont. While rowing towards the goal, visitors can learn why rowing and skiing are good all-body workouts and how exercise and diet contribute to overall good health, higher energy levels, and better balance in life. Visitors can also appreciate some of the similarities between the equipment used in rowing and skiing. And finally, visitors will just get to use their muscles!
Please join the Vermont Ski Museum and Concept2 for the Kickoff Party on Wednesday, May 30th, at 5:00pm. Local celebrity guests representing groups with connections to sports and fitness will start rowing through Vermont. Groups represented are the Stowe Mountain Bike Club, the Stowe Bike Club, Stowe Tennis Club, Lamoille County 4-H, Stowe High School Ski Team, Stowe Mountain Resort, Mount Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club, Vermont Ski Areas Association, New England Masters Ski Racing, Stowe Gym, New England Nordic Ski Association, and Green Mountain Water Skiers. Come and cheer them on or come represent your favorite sport and contribute some of your own power to row the Museum closer to its goal!
Prior to the rowing party, the Museum will conduct its Annual Meeting. The Volunteers of the Year and the Board of Directors Appreciation Award will be awarded. Board President David Jaqua will briefly recap the highlights of 2006 and offer a sneak peak at the remainder of 2007, including a big 5th anniversary celebration this fall!
